SUPPORT FOR SYRIAN FAMILIES
Feb 4th, El Castillo de La Herradura, Granada coast.
You all probably know the extreme situation that currently many Syrian families live in. We cannot remain indifferent to this horror. There are many small children, adults and elderly people fighting extremely low temperatures and hunger.
IT COULD HAPPEN TO ANYONE, the situation has reached its limits: International organizations and governments are overwhelmed and cannot properly cope with the situation, they need our help.
This is why we are getting together to organise a day event to support Syrian families.
Saturday, 4th of February
DAY OF SOLIDARITY WITH THE FAMILIES OF SYRIA
Do you want to help? See below!!!
On 4th February from 10am until 3pm in the Castle, La Herradura, Granada. The following activities will be on offer
– EXHIBITION – Syria and her legacy – positive action for displaced families.
– INTERACTIVE COLLECTION – what and how can we send materials? We will inform what exact materials are needed e.g.: blankets, duvets, winter clothes
– STORIES FROM THE ORIENT
– INFORMATION POINTS – information about bonafide projects that are already up and running both in Syria and through out Europe so that you can see where and how you can help more
– ART AUCTION – bid for donations given by artists, ALL fund raised will go to the project.
– MARKET – a little purchase converts directly into help!
– MEDITATION CONCERT – with Tibetan singing bowls and ancestral instruments – voluntary donation to take part.
ALL MONEY RAISED WILL GO DIRECTLY TO THE PROJECTS. This day will be made possible only by voluntary work and donations. We are very grateful to the Herradura Town Hall for their help and collaboration.
DO YOU WANT TO HELP???
Yes You can! You can participate in the event or help to organise it. How?
1- COME AND JOIN THE EVENT
During the event you will be able to get to know the different actions to support syrian families that are been carried out here; who and what is been done:
-Internet support: give coverage to the situation, information, coordinating effort, NGO’s support, etc.
-Support to institutional campaigns: signatures collection, requests to local governmental institutions, humanitarian visa applications for the families, etc.
-Financial aid and fund-raising: You can obtain information and directly support the initiatives in both, within and outside Syria. This is possibly the most important collaboration you can offer, as it can cover for heating systems, help the transport of donated goods, humanitarian cooking, medicine shipment, etc
-Donations: You can obtain information and donate on the spot those items that are really needed, so we can optimise your help. You will be able to donate them in the small market that will be set up for the occasion. We will publish an updated list of the preferred items. For now: duvets, covers, winter clothes and winter shoes (please bring everything clean and ready to use).
2- PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT ORGANISATION
We will need volunteers to organise the event.
a- Organising Team: Meeting on Friday 20th of January at 4:30 pm in the Centro Cívico de La Herradura. Let us know if you are planning to assist to the meeting so we can plan ahead. Bring pen and paper!
b- Volunteers during the day of the event: People will be needed to set up the event and to attend the different help desks as well as to help at the end of the event.
If you have time on the afternoon of the 3rd of February and on the 4th between 9 am and 3 pm you can join one of the organising teams.
c-General volunteers: If you are only available for a couple of hours, let us know when and perhaps you can help with the posters ahead of the event or give us a hand during the event.
d-Supplies: We need to print posters, etc. Let us know if you want to help with that so we can split the cost among more people.
Of course, feel free to let us know if you come up with something else that you think it could be of help.
